The Art of Surrender | 27-29 Aug 2026
Join us in learning this beautiful art as we stay at peace by allowing life to unfold for our highest good.
“A man is born gentle and supple. When he dies, he is stiff and hard. Likewise, all things, the grass and trees, are tender and plaint while alive. When they are dead, they are brittle and dry. Therefore, the stiff and hard are companions of death. The gentle and pliant are companions of life.”
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching, Chapter 76, translated by James Legge
The Tao reminds us that life flows through what is flexible.
The power of surrender
Kabbalistic sages explain that the Red Sea did not part until the waters had reached the nostrils of the Israelites. When the waters rushed into their throats, they gave up control and believed in a positive outcome. That’s when the waters parted, and they were breathing fresh air.” Excerpt from the book, The Power of Kabbalah by Yehuda Berg.
The miracle begins precisely where control ends.
The Power of Certainty
Michael, a small-business owner in North America, returned from vacation to discover that his manager had taken approximately $105,000 in company sales proceeds.
Instead of reacting with fear or trying to control the outcome, Michael embraced a Kabbalistic principle of certainty: “You can never lose something that is truly yours. Therefore, the money has to show up. If it doesn’t, perhaps it was never mine. Either we would have lost this money in another deal or our profits would have been lower next year ”
He told his accountant that whatever ultimately happened was correct, even if they could not yet understand why.
The next morning, they discovered that $88,000 had been deposited into a Canadian bank account. The manager had kept the remaining cash.
Michael still refused to surrender his certainty or become consumed by the missing money: “If the cash is ours, it will show up. If it doesn’t, it was never ours to begin with.”
Then something unexpected happened. The manager had a change of heart, called Michael, and confessed what he had done.
He did not force a positive outcome nor did he fear a negative one. All he did was surrender that whatever unfolds is for his highest good.
